How To Navigate Your YouTube Channel

With a bit of trial and error, you should easily be able to work out how to navigate your YouTube channel interface. But for the sake of getting the basics down I’ll walk you through the basics so that you have a rough idea of how everything works and how to find key sections.

Clicking On Your Profile Icon In The Top Right Corner

If you’ve followed our previous two guides then you should be logged in to your channel, if not you will need to do so in order to access your channel options.

While logged in if you click the menu in the top right corner you’ll get an options menu with a few different areas you can click on to access different parts of your channel. Your icon will probably be different from ours if you’ve changed it but your menu should look something like this:

Let’s take a look at some of the options and what they might mean if you click on each of them.

Your Channel

The first option in this menu will take you to your channel homepage when clicked. It will take you to your channels main page when clicked. From here you can see an overview of your channel as well as access your videos, playlists and about page.

This is a relatively new feature implemented by YouTube and will take you to a page that displays all your paid memberships if you have any. Here you’ll find the exclusive content that is on offer to you by paying a monthly fee to any creators you want to see more from.

YouTube Studio

Clicking on the YouTube Studio button will take you to your core creator hub which features things related to managing you channel with things like community, analytics and more useful insights.

Switch Accounts

If you have more than one YouTube account then you are able to seamlessly switch between them by clicking this button. You may have a personal and business account that you wish to change between at any given time.

Sign Out

This one does what it says on the tin – If you wish to log out of your account you can do so here. Useful if you’re using a computer that isn’t your own.

Dark Theme

This one is down to personal preference as it will change the colour of your youtube interface to black or white. This is useful if you’re using the platform at night or just prefer a darker colour scheme.

The Language option allows you to quickly change the language that YouTube displays for you. This is much quicker than going into the settings menu and changing it.

You are able to change your location with this option. You may want to do this if you are interested in seeing what videos are trending in other countries besides your own.

The settings menu can by accessed here and features the rest of the settings that you may want to customise for your channel that aren’t in this dropdown menu.

Your Data In YouTube

Here is where you can browse or delete your YouTube activity, and discover how your data makes YouTube and other Google services work better for you.

Clicking the help button will bring up a convenient question box. This can be useful if you’re ever struggling to work out how to do something on the platform as you can search any questions here.

Send Feedback

The next feature is the send feedback button that allows you to send anything that you might want to bring to YouTube’s attention to them quickly.

Keyboard Shortcuts

The final button here allows you to learn the available keyboard shortcuts offered by YouTube. These can improve your experience when watching content.

That’s really all there is too it. YouTube is a simple platform that anyone can understand that’s what makes it one of the most popular video sharing platforms on the internet. If there’s anything you don’t understand click it and see what it does as you can’t do any harm. It’s all trial and error, you’ll get the hang of everything in no time!
